In order to make a safe space for people to join in and start meaningful friendships quickly, we had to really reverse-engineer the way friends are made.

It's funny, but we realized that there are so many social norms built around finding romantic relationships, but few established processes focused on just making friends. It's pretty much who you go to school with or who you work with.
And because of the social nature of meeting random people online, there is a serious need for security. The challenge was not easy, but we were excited to work with the founder and try to find at least a starting point to help people feel safe and comfortable in meeting new people with a mutual interest in making true friends.

Creating a user experience that focuses on finding shared values and interests before seeing pictures or chatting was a key breakthrough that will hopefully generate more meaningful and inclusive friendships.
We were making an app that helped friends decide where to go eat... then the pandemic came. REWORK!
